Climb to Artesonraju Mountain

Artesonraju Mountain is a technical and demanding mountain that requires climbing experience, we always recommend you to take a certified mountain guide in order to reach the summit. it has a wall that is 50° to 70° degrees to climb. we can consider one extra day in the itinerary just in bad weather.
DAY 01: HUARAZ – CASHAPAMPA (2,900 M.) – LLAMACORRAL (3,760 M.)
After having breakfast at the hotel, we leave Huaraz city on private transport, driving along the Callejón de Huaylas passing through the different towns such as; Carhuaz and Yungay then we arrive in Caraz town, we continue driving until Cashapampa village about at 10:00 a.m. where the donkey drivers their donkeys will be waiting for us to transport our camping equipment and this is the point where we start trekking up for about 5-6 hours we arrive at the first camp Llamacorral, we spend the night there at 3760m.
DAY 02: LLAMACORRAL (3,760 M.) – JATUNCOCHA LAKE – TAULLIPAMPA (4,250 M.)
After breakfast in the camp, we start going up along the Santa Cruz valley on a moderate path, this trail has a wonderful view of some peaks and we also can enjoy the view of the beautiful Jatuncocha lake, we arrive at the beautiful Alpamayo viewpoint where we have lunch. Then, we continue walking up until Alpamayo base camp 4,300 m. where we can appreciate it closer after that, we continue walking until to reach Taullipampa camp at 4,250 m. where we spend the night and, in the afternoon, we can enjoy the beautiful sunset on Artesonraju peak.
DAY 03: TAULLIPAMPA (4,250 M.) – MORRAINE CAMP OF ARTESONRAJU (4,900 M.)
After breakfast at the Taullipampa Camp, we pack up our climbing gear to go up and reach the moraine camp of Artesonraju, it takes us about 5 – 6 hours, we make it with the porters’ help, they take our camping equipment and food to moraine camp to spend time there, we have dinner and we get ready for the next day
DAY 04: MORRAINE CAMP (4,900 M.) – ARTESONRAJU SUMMIT (6,025 M.) – TAULLIPAMPA (4,250 M.)
This day we get up at 1:00 a.m. and get ready for the summit, we have lunch and start climbing up until getting the Artesonraju glacier where we put on our climbing gear, we reach the climbing route where we find the ice wall from 50° to 70° degrees, after climbing hard for about 6-7 hours we reach the top of Artesonraju at 6,025 m, at the summit we enjoy the beautiful view of some mountains such as Pirámide, Garcilaso, Caraz, Taulliraju, Pucajirca, Alpamayo, Quitaraju, and Santa Cruz. After that, we start climbing down by rappelling, and some points we climb using our ice axe, we do it until reach to the moraine camp there we have a delicious hot lunch and after a short break we return to Taullipampa camp and we spend the night at 4,250m.
DAY 05: TAULLIPAMPA (4,250 M.) – CASHAPAMPA (2,900 M.) – HUARAZ (3,100 M.)
After breakfast at Taullipampa base camp, we start walking down along Santa Cruz valley passing through the beautiful Jatuncocha lake, we have lunch on the way with a nice view after that, we continue walking down until reaching the Cashapampa village, where one private transport will wait for us in order take us back to Huaraz city
