The Chopicalqui mountain is another beautiful mountain with a spectacular view that it offers from its summit because around it you have mountains that exceed more than 6 thousand meters such as the Huascaran peaks, Huandoys peaks, Contrayerbas, Copa, Hualcan, Chacraraju, and other mountains.

DAY 01: HUARAZ – LLANGANUCO – CHOPICALQUI BASE CAMP (4,200 M.)

After breakfast in the hotel, we take private transport to drive along the Callejon de Huaylas on the north side of Huaraz city, we pass through different towns such as Carhuaz 2,650 m.  and Yungay town which was buried by an avalanche that fell from the Huascaran north peak in 1970, from the New Yungay at 2,500 m. we get to the Llanganuco valley, where we reach the Huascaran National Park office, where we get our entrance fee, then we continue driving along the valley where we will appreciate two lakes, Chinancocha and Orconcocha. We continue driving until Curva de Chopicalqui where we drop off and have lunch after that we start going up to the base camp of Chopicalqui Base Camp, which takes us 1 hour approximately, we spend the night there.

DAY 02: BASE CAMP – MORAINE CAMP (4,700 M.)

After breakfast in the base camp, we start climbing for about 4 – 5 hours to reach the moraine camp, on our way, we enjoy the beautiful view of Pisco, Huandoys peaks, and Chacraraju mountains, we have lunch on the trail in a nice viewpoint after that, we continue walking up until reaching the moraine camp at 4,700 m. and we spend the night there.

DAY 03: MORAINE CAMP – CHOPICALQUI CAMP 1 (5,500 M.)

After breakfast, we start climbing up for about 40 minutes through the rocky path until to reach the glacier, there we put on our climbing gear after that, we start climbing up for about 3-4 hours to reach Camp 1 of Chopicalqui, this camp has a nice view of Chacraraju, Huandoy peaks, and Pisco and we spend the night there at 5,500 m.

DAY 04: CAMP 1 – CHOPICALQUI SUMMIT (6354 M.) – MORAINE CAMP (4,700 M.)

After early breakfast, we leave the camp at 01:00 a.m. we plan to reach the summit after 6-7 hours climbing up, we reach a wall of 65° degrees where we take as a route to reach the summit once we reach the top we have an amazing view of majestic peaks such as Huascaran peaks, Huandoy peaks, Contrayerbas, Pisco and Chacraraju after that, we start climbing down by the same climbing route until the camp 01 where the cook will be waiting for us with hot and delicious lunch, we continue walking down to Moraine camp for about 2 hours in order to spend the night at (4700 m).

DAY 05: MORAINE CAMP – BASE CAMP – HUARAZ

After breakfast, we start walking down from the moraine camp to Curva de Chopicalqui road, where private transport will be waiting for us to take back to Huaraz.
