Climb to Alpamayo Mountain

Alpamayo Mountain is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, this is very demanding and we recommend you to go with an experienced and accredited Mountain Guide. Alpamayo is 60-80 degrees steeper which makes it hard to climb in bad weather that’s one reason that we could change the itinerary with an extra day.
DAY 01: HUARAZ (3,100 M.) – CASHAPAMPA (2,900 M.) – LLAMACORRAL (3,760 M.)
After having breakfast at the hotel, we leave Huaraz city on private transport, driving along the Callejón of Huaylas passing through the different towns such as; Carhuaz and Yungay then we arrive in Caraz town, we continue driving until Cashapampa village about at 10:00 a.m. where the donkey drivers their donkeys will be waiting for us to transport our camping equipment and this is the point where we start trekking up for about 5-6 hours we arrive at the first camp Llamacorral, we spend the night there at 3760m.
DAY 02: LLAMACORRAL (3,760 M.) – CAMPO BASE ALPAMAYO (4,300 M.)
After having breakfast in the camp, we start walking along the valley enjoying the beautiful scenery of Jatuncocha lake, then we arrive at the beautiful viewpoint of Alpamayo where we have lunch, then we will continue walking to the base camp of Alpamayo where we spend the night at 4,300 m.
DAY 03: CAMPO BASE (4,300 M.) – CAMPO MORRENA DE ALPAMAYO (4,800 M.)
After having breakfast in the camp, we get our climbing equipment ready then we start climbing up on a rocky path for about 4-3 hours to reach the Morraine Camp where we will enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains like Artesonraju, Paria, Taulliraju, Jancarurish, Rinrijirca, and others, after that, we get ready our climbing equipment for the next day and spend the night at 4,800 m.
DAY 04: CAMPO MORRENA – ALPAMAYO CAMP 1 (5, 500 M.)
After breakfast in the moraine camp, we go up and fiend to the glacier where we put our climbing equipment on, then, we start climbing up for about 4 hours and a half to arrive to the Camp 1 of Alpamayo, here, we set up our camping tent and then rest early in the afternoon to attempt the summit the next day.
DAY 05: CAMP 1- ALPAMAYO SUMMIT (5,947 M.) – BASE CAMP (4,300 M.)
This day, we get up at 01:00 a.m., we have breakfast there, and we start to walk on the glacier for about an hour until to reach the bottom of Alpamayo mountain where we take the French route, it has about 480 meters of wall and it is about 60° – 70° – 80° degrees, from this point we start climbing up using our two technical ice axes, it takes about 5 to 6 hours to reach the Alpamayo summit 5, 947 m, it has one of the impressive view mountains such as Santa Cruz peaks, Quitaraju, Artesonraju, Garcilaso, Paria, Chacraraju, Taulliraju, Jancarurish, and other mountains more. After taking some pictures start climbing down, rappelling on a fixed rope, we return to camp 1 about 11 a.m. where our cook will be waiting for us with a delicious and hot lunch, we have lunch, rest, and climb down to the base camp of Alpamayo and spent the night there.
DAY 06: BASE CAMP (4,300 M.) – CASHAPAMPA (2,900 M.) – HUARAZ (3,100 M.)
After breakfast at Alpamayo base camp, we start walking down along Santa Cruz valley enjoying the beautiful view passing through the Jatuncocha lake, we have lunch on the way with a nice view after that, we continue walking down until reaching the Cashapampa village, where one private transport will wait for us in order take us back to Huaraz city.
