Urus Mountain is in the Ishinca Valley in the Cordillera Blanca, a good mountain for getting acclimated it has a moderate difficulty to climb on the normal route, it doesn’t require to be an experienced climber. Definitely, it has an amazing view of mountains such as Palcaraju, Tocllaraju, Ranrapalca, Ocshapalca, Copa, and Akilpo.
DAY 01: HUARAZ (3,100 M.) – PASHPA – BASE CAMP ISHINCA (4,350 M.)
We leave from Huaraz at 8:00 a.m. on a private transport driving along the north side of Huaraz until Paltay village from there we drive to the east side in order to reach Pashpa village at 3,600 m where the donkey drives with their donkeys wait for us and support us with the climbing equipment until the base camp at 4,350 m. where we stay the night there.
DAY 02: ISHINCA BASE CAMP (4,350 M.) –URUS SUMMIT (5,495 M.) – BASE CAMP
We have an early breakfast and we start climbing up at 2:00 a.m. to the top of Urus Mountain at 5,495 m. we walk on zigzag until we reach the moraine of the peak for about 3 hours, and another 2 hours to reach the top where we enjoy the spectacular view of the mountains, such as Ranrapalca, Tocllaraju, Copa, Hualcan, and Huascaran peaks after that, we return back to the base camp where we spend a night.
DAY 03: BASE CAMP – PASHPA – HUARAZ
After having breakfast, we pick up all the camping equipment after that, we return back through the Ishinca valley until reaching Cochapampa, where private transport will be waiting for us to take us back to Huaraz.
