Trekking Huayhuash

Huayhuash is considered one of the most beautiful trekking in the world, Huayhuash range is located in three of the regions of Peru (Lima, Ancash, and Huánuco) this trekking has amazing panoramic view, don’t hesitate to visit it!

DAY 01: HUARAZ – CHIQUIAN – LLAMAC 3,300 M.

You have breakfast in your hotel then, we leave Huaraz on private transport at 8:00 a.m. to the south of Huaraz passing through different towns like; Recuay, Ticapampa, Catac, and Conococha at 4,100 m. then we get to Chiquian town at 3,400 m. where we can get some shops if you need to buy something from over there we will get the Llamac town after four hours driving and during our journey we can enjoy the view of some beautiful mountains of Huayhuash range like; Ninashanca, Jirishanca, Yerupaja, and others, finally, we will drop off at Llamac our first campsite at 3,300 m. where we will spend the night.

DAY 02: LLAMAC – POCPA – CUARTELHUAIN 4,300 M.

After breakfast in Llamac, we start trekking at 8:00 a.m. We go up about 4- 5 hours to the Cuartelhuain camp, we pass Pocpa village then, we continue trekking and get to a small mine of Pallca village. This day is helpful because it’s going to help us to be acclimatized for the next trekking days, in the end, we reach Cuartelhuain camp at 4,300 m. this camp has an amazing view of Ninashanca Mountain on the south side.

DAY 03: CUARTELHUAIN – CACANAN PASS 4,700 M. – MITUCOCHA.

After breakfast, we start trekking at 8:00 a.m. from Cuartelhuain, we start going up for 2 hours to the Cacanan pass at 4,700 m. on the trail we enjoy the beautiful view around us, after getting to this highpoint, we go down approximately 2 hours and a half to Mitucocha camp where, we can enjoy the beautiful view of Ninashanca, Jarishinca, and Rondoy mountains, we will spend a night at 4200m.

DAY 04: MITUCOCHA – PASO CARHUAC 4500 M. – CARHUACOCHA.

After breakfast, we start trekking at 8:00 a.m. we go up about 2 to 3 hours to the Carhuac pass at 4500 m. where we can enjoy the beautiful view of the snowy Jirishanca, Yerupaja, Siula, Carnicero. then we will descend to the Carhuacocha camp where we will spend the night at 4250 m.

DAY 05: CARHUACOCHA – PASO SIULA 4,850 M. – HUAYHUASH.

After breakfast, we start trekking at 8:00 a.m. we hike along the shore of Carhuacocha Lake for about 40 minutes, then we reach and enjoy the view of the three famous lakes “Gangrajanca, Siula, and Quesillococha” After that, we continue going up to the Siula pass and it is a beautiful viewpoint to appreciate the three lakes we visit and Jirishanca, Yerupaja, Siula, and Carnicero peaks in the background. Siula Pass is at 4,850 m. after that, we go down to the Huayhuash camp for about 2 hours and a half more, Huayhuash camp has a nice view of Trapecio peak, there we spend the night at 4,300 m.

DAY 06: HUAYHUASH – PASO PORTACHUELO 4,700 M. – VICONGA.

After breakfast in Huayhuash camp, we start trekking at 08:00 a.m. for about 1 hour and a half to reach Portachuelo pass at 4,700 m. this highpoint has a splendid view of Trapecio, Cuyoc, Leon Dormido, and other mountains. Then, we continue going down to Viconga camp for about 4 hours more then, we have lunch at the camp after that our customers can enjoy and relax in the hot springs of Viconga camp and we spend the night there at 4100 m.

DAY 07: VICONGA – PUNTA CUYOC PASO 4,900 M. – HUANACPATAY.

After breakfast in Viconga camp, we start going up to the Cuyoc pass at 5,000 m. the highest pass of the trek circuit, this pass has a splendid view where we can enjoy the view of Puscanturpa, Cuyoc, and Pumarinri peaks. After that, we start going down to the Elefante camp, we reach it and we have lunch there later, we go up to the San Antonio viewpoint where we can appreciate the panoramic view of Huacrish, Angocancha, Yerupaja, and Siula mountains. After that, we continue going down till to get to Huanacpatay camp for about 3 hours more, this campsite has an amazing view of the sunset where we can have a great view of Cuyoc peak in the background, we spend the night at 4,250 m. in Huanacpatay camp.

DAY 08: HUANACPATAY – HUAYLLAPA – HUATIAC 4,400 M.

After breakfast at Huanacpatay camp, we start walking down toward the Huayllapa village for about 3-4 hours, this village is at 3,400 m. and this village still keeps the traditional customs, we can visit it and buy some snacks, etc. After visiting it, we start going up to Huatiac camp for about 3 hours, where we spend the night at 4,400 m. and enjoy the view of Diablo Mudo peak.

DAY 09: HUATIAC – PASO YAUCHA 4,800 M. – JAHUACOCHA

After breakfast, we start trekking up to the Tapush Pass 4,750 m. for about 3 hours, Tapush pass has a wonderful view of Diablo Mudo peak after that, we continue trekking up to the next pass Yaucha at 4,800 m. for about 2 hours and a half more, when we get this viewpoint, we appreciate the view of Jirishanca, Ninashanca, Yerupaja and other peaks then, we going down for 2 hours more to the last camp Jahuacocha at 4,100 m. and we spend the night there.

DAY 10: JAHUACOCHA – LLAMAC – HUARAZ

After breakfast at Jahuacocha Camp, we start walking down for about 1 hour then we start going up to Pampallamac Pass 4,300 m. for 1 hour and a half more, It is the last view of the trek, where we can enjoy the view of Yerupaja, Ninashanca, Siula, and Diablo peaks. After that, we go down to Llamac village, where we started the trek, there will be a car to transfer us to Huaraz city and we will drop off you at your hotel.
